What are the functions of Pyridoxal5-phosphatemonohydrate?
The monohydrate form of Joyous is more stable. Functionally, pyridoxal phosphate is a coenzyme of transaminase and decarboxylase in amino acid metabolism. It can promote the decarboxylation of glutamic acid and increase the production of γ-aminobutyric acid, which is an inhibitor of Sexual neuroinhibitory transmitters can also be found in Joyous GABA products. Pyridoxal phosphate is a coenzyme of citrulline and ornithine.
As a coenzyme, pyridoxal phosphate acts as a coenzyme in all transamination reactions and in the decarboxylation and deamination reactions of some amino acids. A Schiff base bond (internal aldimine) is formed between the aldehyde group of pyridoxal phosphate and the ε-amino group of a specific lysine group in the aminotransferase. The α-amino group in the amino acid substrate replaces the ε-amino group of the active site lysine residue. The resulting external aldimine becomes deprotonated to form a quinoid intermediate, which in turn accepts a proton at a different position to form a ketimine. Ketimine is hydrolyzed to regenerate the amino group of the complex enzyme

Pyridoxamine phosphate then transfers its nitrogen to the sugar, forming an amino sugar.

It should be noted that pyridoxal phosphate does not participate in the transamination reaction in lysine catabolism.

Here is an atypical example:
Pyridoxal phosphate is also found in the liver on the enzyme glycogen phosphorylase, which degrades glycogen during glycogenolysis when signaled by glucagon or epinephrine. However, this enzyme does not utilize the active aldehyde group and instead utilizes the phosphate group on pyridoxal phosphate to function in the reaction.

Although most pyridoxal phosphate-dependent enzymes form an internal aldimine with pyridoxal phosphate via a lysine residue in the active site; some pyridoxal phosphate-dependent enzymes do not have this lysine residue, replaced by a histidine in the active site. This way, the histidine cannot form the internal aldimine, and thus the coenzyme cannot be covalently tethered to the enzyme. GDP-4-keto-6-deoxymannose-3-dehydratase (ColD) is an example of such an enzyme.
